Between 19 and 28 August, Beijing and Shenzhen will host three large robotics programmes with very different purposes. One combines a conference, expo and technical contest. Another puts humanoids through 50 sporting and workplace events. The third is an industry exhibition. EngineAI's URKL enters the same month with a 16-team combat schedule built around one full-size humanoid platform.

Beijing combines conference, expo and contest

The World Robot Conference runs from 19 to 23 August at the Beiren Etrong International Exhibition and Convention Center in Beijing E-Town. The World Robot Expo and World Robot Contest finals share those dates. Beijing's official programme lists over 300 exhibitors and over 2,000 exhibits as expected totals. It also says the contest has drawn over 10,000 competitors from over 6,000 teams in over 20 countries.

Those totals combine a technical contest, an exhibition and a conference. They are not an audience figure for one spectator sport. They show the range of participants sharing the venue: component suppliers, developers, research teams and competition organizers.

The humanoid games widen the test

The second World Humanoid Robot Games follow on 22–26 August at Beijing's National Speed Skating Oval. The latest municipal announcement lists 50 events. It adds table tennis and free fighting, while 21 scenario events cover tasks such as hotel service, library work, emergency response and industrial production.

Several track events, including 400 metres, 1,500 metres and the 4 × 100 metre relay, are described as fully autonomous. That distinction matters. A sprint run under onboard control tests a different system from a remotely operated fight, even if both are presented as robot sport.

Shenzhen separates exhibition from competition

CRIE and AGIC are scheduled for 26–28 August at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center. The organizer advertises roughly 80,000 square metres, about 1,000 exhibitors and over 120,000 visitors. These are promotional forecasts, not attendance results. The exhibitor notices are more concrete: UBTECH is among the companies announced for the show.

URKL sits in a different category. The league launched publicly in Shenzhen on 16 July with EngineAI's T800 as the designated platform. Its published schedule places a 16-team group stage in August and September, then quarterfinals in October and November and the final rounds from December into January 2027.

What to compare

Scale says little about the quality of a competition. Control mode, platform access, scoring, repair rules, safety procedures and match records are more useful measures. Published consistently, they allow results to be compared across venues and dates.

Editorial boundary

Event sizes and attendance figures come from organizers or government announcements unless stated otherwise. ClankerSports has not independently audited them.
